I am an Integrated Psychotherapist in advanced training with Therapy and Counselling Teeside, working towards accreditation with the AHAPP and UKCP. My training allows me to explore a wide range of therapeutic models, giving me a great toolkit to work with my clients.
Studying Philosophy for my undergraduate degree enabled me to begin a career in thinking outside the box, helping others. I gained my postgraduate at Cambridge University before teaching Philosophy at a large comprehensive upper school. Here I found that I liked working with young people on a one-on-one basis far more than in a large class, and became an Assistant Head of Year in order that I could give more time to individuals. The time that I could give never felt like enough to make enough of a difference and I decided to change careers; leading to me to complete a course in Counselling with York St John. At this point I wanted to further my knowledge of therapy and enrolled with Therapy and Counselling Teeside on the Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, where I am in my third year of the four year course.
I am able to work with a number of issues such as:
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Bereavement
- Self-esteem
- Personal Growth
- Eating Disorders
- Addiction and Recovery
- Trauma
- Identity Crisis
I also have a special interest in Sex and Relationships and have completed the Imago Relationship Therapy foundations course. I have completed research on the topic of relationships and attitudes to love, and have a keen interest in alternative approaches to Sex. I am Kink-Aware, Sex Positive and LGBTQIA+ friendly.
